Description:
It is a protected area of mountains and the largest Natural Park of Catalonia with an area of 69.850ha. The Generalitat of Catalonia created it in 2003 and represents more than 50% of the total territory culd. It was born with two clear objectives: first, to safeguard the values of natural and monumental values along with geological, biological, ecological, and cultural landscape of this privileged; and second, to attract tourism sensitive to this rich heritage and respectful of the traditional landscape.
The great privilege of the region is its unspoiled flora and fauna.

Geographical location: It is located between the states of Andorra, France and Catalonia.
Description:
It is the highest peak of Catalonia with 3.143m, so also called 'The roof of Catalonia'. It's called "Estats" because it is the limit of the border in three states. It can be accessed from the Cardos Valley or from Farrera Valley.
The route is approximately 12h (6hours to climb and 6h to go down).

Description:
It is the only National Park that exists in Catalonia and reached this category in 1956. The territory is between 1.000 and 3.000 meters. This is one of the main tourist destinations in the Pyrenees with an average annual influx of more than 340.000 visitors (data from the last 15 years). It has an area of 40.852ha, although only 14.119 have no category of National Park.
The National Park is closed to any private vehicle access. There is a taxi service for visitors to the park and can be accessed through two entrances: the Vall de Boi and Espot.

Geographical location: In the Valley of Boavi header Cardos Valley.
Description:
This is the largest lake in the Pyrenees with 58ha long. It is located at an altitude of 2.240m and has a depth of 98m. You can access by taxi or by foot about 4 hours away.

Description:
Long-distance route that crosses the Pyrenees from Hendaye to Cap de Creus. The route that takes ares from Pallars Sobirà goes from Aigüestortes National Park through Espot, La Guingueta, Estaón, Ainet, Tavascan, Boldís and Àreu; and then to Andorra and Pla de Boet.
The road crosses peaks, forests, mountains, valleys and villages of great beauty and natural value. It has a distance of 378km and was approved in 1985.
Level of difficulty: Difficult.

Description:
It is the race that covers 18 villages of the Cardós Valley to approach to the exceptional scenic views of the Valley at the same time aims to disseminate their cultural heritage. Organized in mid-May, has a total of 39km, although there is the possibility of half marathon of 17km. You can do it by running or walking (walking half marathon are approximately 4h).

Description:
It is the race that begins in the Àreu square when the sun retires, if the sun fails to illuminate a participant, this is eliminated, so it is called a race against the sun. It is held every spring and involves Monteixo Peak (2.980m).

Geographical Location: Forest Esterri de Cardós.
Description:
This is the top of a mountain at 2.000m altitude in the middle of the Natural Park of the High Pyrenees. Easily reached from the Hotel by car and once there you just have to walk a few meters to reach them. It is also accessible by bike or on foot. From the top of the meadow you can see what the Valley offers: a majestic view and is perfect outing with your family and pets.

Description:
This is the route we will cross if we're going to Pica d'Estats if we want to access from Tavascan. This paradise formed by streams of water, birches and firs, surrounded by majestic mountains, a landscape that leaves no one indifferent.

Geographical Location: Located in the northwest of Ainet Cardós, south-west and east Benante and Estaón.
Description:
The Pui Tabaca is a mountain of 1.718m height that is straddling the municipalities of Esterri de Cardós and Vall de Cardós.
It is the first pic you see when you enter the Valley. The walking tour takes about an hour upstream and downstream and is suitable for the whole family.
It is the only point from which you can see 17 towns of Cardós Valley.

Description:
Port lake is located on the border crossing with France and is 2.038m high. Old way of contraband can be accessed on foot 1h 45m time from the parking to the lake and a vertical drop of 200m. The beautiful views and streams make this trip one of the essential area.

Description:
Cuco enjoys views of the Valley and the neighboring Noguera Pallaresa. Once we reached the head of the peak, there is a trench where soldiers guarded the Valley of the enemy attack during the Civil War.

One of the great riches offered by the Valley are over 910 species of butterflies that live in the area. In Estaón there is a path near the river which you can walk, you will find a lot of these beautiful insects.

Excursions and routes through Pyrenees In summer, one of the most practiced activities in the area is to make mountain excursions and close to the Hotel Cardós there is a wide variety with different levels of difficulty to go with family or friends.
